As you progress through the game, you will be able to purchase auras from the Aura Shop, located near the Equipment Shop in the Haven. Auras are unique effects that emanate from your character when equipped.
To equip an acquired aura, click the Setup button on the game HUD while in the Haven, then click the Aura tab. This will show you your currently equipped aura and all the ones you've unlocked. Click the aura you want to equip, then hold your click and drag it into the box in the center of your avatar. You can also unequip your aura by clicking the X button on the top left corner of your currently equipped aura's icon.
Note: All Auras are merely cosmetic, and provide no gameplay advantage. Some might also distract or cause seizures for some people.
